[00:00:00] If you work for a living, why do you kill yourself working? From the Willamette Valley, in America's great Pacific Northwest, greetings! You are listening to the Earnest Mann Show, and I'm your host, Earnest Mann. Coming to you from the interweb, no matter where you may be listening, in this beautiful, but sometimes crazy world we all share.

[00:00:31] How could it even be possible? Not to have a story about one of the most important aspects of American history. So, even though this is Friday, and it's technically a day late, this sure as hell isn't a dollar short. I, of course, am talking about Labor Day. Hello, I'm Earnest. Welcome. I wonder how many Americans even know about the meaning of Labor Day.

[00:00:57] Because I believe the number of people who actually understand the history and meaning of Labor Day is directly proportional to the number of people who would generally be considered rational and intelligent. Based on what I see going on in society right now, it would seem that most people really don't have a fucking clue about Labor Day.

[00:01:22] Yet, if you ask them their favorite Taylor Swift song, they could not only name it, but sing it word for word, and probably even sing the fucking song backward. Oh well, I guess the nation has to have its priorities in order, doesn't it? I'm going to leave the background video in this episode in the description below.

[00:01:49] On the one in a million chance that someone out there can turn off their current brainless distraction and watch something of actual value. It's a good place to get started learning about labor. Something you sure as hell aren't going to be learning listening to Taylor Swift. I can assure you. So, what I'm going to share with you is some actual historical truth.

[00:02:17] How the American government turned on its own veterans. The killing of men, women, and children using artillery and tanks. And these actions against World War I veterans was carried out by two men that would become famous in World War II history. Douglas MacArthur and George Patton.

[00:02:39] Yes, those no good sons of bitches killed old soldiers and their families. Bet you didn't know that, did you? Here is just the opening from the article that I'm also going to put in the link in the description. In 1932, 17,000 former soldiers marched on Washington, D.C. to demand wartime pay owed them.

[00:03:08] The Great Depression ravaged the country and a president took desperate measures to disperse the angry veterans. Tanks rolled down the streets. Soldiers held people at bayonet point. Veterans and their families took lungs full of tear gas. People died. The fight between veterans and the White House had been brewing for more than a decade since the Revolutionary War.

[00:03:38] However, American soldiers received a bonus for serving during wartime. Basically, this was some extra cash to make up the difference in pay the soldiers would have made as civilians during the same period.

[00:03:54] But in 1917 and 1918, while American soldiers fought and died in Europe, the Woodrow Wilson administration increased government employees' salaries to help compensate for a rising inflation rate. But it didn't increase soldiers' pay. When the troops returned home, they were angry.

[00:04:19] So the American Legion organized the vets and helped push bills through Congress legislating a commensurate increase in pay. Opponents of the payment called it a bonus. Veterans called it compensation. The U.S. Now, like I said, that's only the beginning of the article. But hopefully it will illustrate just how much the government loves and cares about you.

[00:04:50] I don't think it should take a fucking genius to figure out that anyone who has even a small amount of knowledge about the U.S. government actions. And I'm not talking about abroad. I'm talking, in this case, actions against its own citizens here in the good old U.S. of fucking A. So that's what I mean.

[00:05:15] When every time I see large groups of people for some kind of, you know, political rally or 4th of July or some other equally nationalistic event, be it on the conservative right or the so-called liberal left, people waving those, you know, those idiotic little American tiny flags.

[00:05:37] What I'm seeing are people being nationalistic who really have no idea, although believing they do, of what it is they're supporting. And that in itself is what makes it so damn scary. Go ahead and tell me if you can follow what I'm about to say here. Seriously, this is a really important point. Drop me a line and tell me if you disagree.

[00:06:08] When people look at old newsreels from late 1930s Germany, they see German people so entranced with Hitler and the mass hypnosis of nationalism. And they claim they can clearly and easily see just what's going on, how Hitler and the mass propaganda had them so hypnotized.

[00:06:32] Yet ironically, they fail to see that what is going on with Americans today is basically the same damn thing. Look, I'm not claiming to be an expert on politics or world affairs. But you don't need to be a weatherman to tell you which way the wind is blowing.

[00:06:55] And by every bit of knowledge I have accumulated, it tells me that very soon, much like the end of Rome, we're not going to have a civil war, but a revolution. And it's going to be a revolution of the masses against the corporations. And that, my friends, is entirely in its ultimate expression what fucking Labor Day is truly all about. Oh, shit.

[00:07:25] I almost forgot. Please subscribe and hit the notification bell because it makes the channel grow. And I'm not going to fucking say it again. You got that? Good. Good. Hey, thank you so much for sticking around. And until next Monday or Friday, this is Ernest. And I usually always am.
