The Power of Reciprocity: Why It’s Essential for Success
Hello, Earnest Mann here! Today, I’m breaking down one of the most overlooked yet essential principles for personal and business success—reciprocity. If you feel like you’re stuck in life despite your best efforts, this episode is for you. Understanding reciprocity and symbiosis can be the key to changing everything.
Reciprocity: The Foundation of Human Success
Since the beginning of humanity, dealmaking and mutual benefit have been the backbone of civilization. Without reciprocity, societies crumble into chaos and decline—just look at history. Today, we see it happening again, and greed is the primary cause.
How the Business World Lost Reciprocity
There was a time when small business owners understood the importance of symbiosis. Competing burger joints coexisted because they valued community over cutthroat domination. Then came the corporate mindset, embodied by people like Ray Kroc, who turned McDonald’s into a soulless empire, crushing small businesses along the way.
Why This Mindset is Killing Small Businesses Today
I share a real-life example of a restaurant owner who refused to invest in expert advice, even though he was desperate to keep his family business alive. He wanted something for nothing—and within 14 months, his business was gone. This kind of thinking—expecting free value without giving anything in return—is destroying businesses, communities, and even nations.
The Harsh Truth: Nothing Comes for Free
Too many people today have the mindset of a spoiled teenager—they expect everything for free. But success, whether in business, relationships, or nations, requires mutual effort. If reciprocity dies, everything collapses. Just ask ancient Rome.
So, Where Do You Stand?
Do you agree that reciprocity is the key to a thriving life and society? Or do you think differently? I want to hear from you! Leave a comment, email me, and let’s discuss.

I would like to share with you one of
the most valuable but often overlooked
insights I can offer to help you gain
better control of your life it's the
complete understanding of the absolute
necessity of
reciprocity so if you're not moving
forward in life despite your best
efforts Give a listen to what I'm about
to say you may very well be surprised by
what you discover
that and so much more on Earnest man
show hello folks thank you for being
here today I'm going to talk about a
subject that I've gotten many emails on
so I figured it would be a lot simpler
if I just talked about this to all of
you this is about
reciprocity which walks hand in hand
with symbiot is and for those of you who
may not be familiar with those terms
they are both part of the social
contract and basically without them
Society collapses as it is collapsing
now now I'm not going to sit here and
say that these two actions are the most
important for Human
Society but I'm going to say that's
pretty much it's damn close to what they
are you see ultimately in one form or
another human society and
civilization is not really built so much
on the level of technology that it has
achieved technology is a good thing I'm
not anti- technology but what I'm going
to talk about here actually supersedes
technology because for example if you're
experiencing
massive social unrest generally speaking
new technology will only be applied with
the goal of possessing a strategic
advantage in killing your enemy and
again generally speaking most people
don't like to do that so the fact of the
matter even if you've never actually
considered or believed this the only
thing that really matters is doing
deals and in order to do that you have
to have
reciprocity
practically just about anything you can
think of is directly tied to the ability
of being able to do
deals and by that I mean just about any
kind of deal that is to say there has to
exist a state of symbiosis
which is a fancy term for saying you do
for me I'll do for you or you scratch my
back and I'll scratch yours something
that has ensured Humanity success since
the beginning of well
Humanity but when we stop doing that
when you refuse to trade or refuse to
deal Society breaks down very fast all
you have to do is view the outcomes of
various
Nations just within the last couple you
know hundred years you will absolutely
discover just how important as a Bedrock
of human civilization a state of
symbiosis deal making had to be and
conversely when that symbiosis goes away
Society quickly breaks down into chaos
and violence and history has proven that
to be the case time and again so if
that's the case what causes the loss of
symbiosis and reciprocity in the
shortest possible terms the primary
cause is
greed let me give you a perfect
example in much more reasonable times
meaning non psychopathic
success obsessed times we're talking
like 30 40 years ago small business
owners still understood this concept
very well if two smaller burger joints
were just two blocks away each owner was
not obsessing about crushing the
competition because that competition
were actually human beings and they
understood that the other guy that had
his Burger Joint had their own families
to
support one of the main reasons being
that they didn't have a psychopathic
corporate
mindset even on just a intuitive level
they understood that their defining
their success as the single owner and
perhaps maybe you know their immediate
family did not mean having an obsessive
Psychopathic driven mindset to take over
the entire town city or
state with chains of their
restaurant okay quick question how is
this narcissistic prick in the White
House well that's easy uh lots of money
and Corruption
so how is this uncircumcised penis in
the White House well answer actually
he's not in the white house yet but he's
working on it next question how's this
narcissistic prick in the White House
well you guessed it money and
Corruption but all that changed when a
no good Psychopathic son of a
named Ray Croc bought out a local
business called McDonald's McDonald's
was originally owned by the McDonald
Brothers now we have Bland tasteless
mcshit Burgers coast to coast and that's
just one company that's mostly by and
large they also produce high-price
lowquality Burgers yay corporate
America but what I really want to talk
about is not a critique of American fast
food what I'm trying to tell you is a
mindset amongst business owners that I
have had to deal with for many years and
not only is it depressing in my life but
what I really want to talk about is not
a critique of American fast food what
I'm trying to tell you is a mindset
amongst business owners that I have had
to deal with for many years and not only
is it depressing in my life but unless
you listen to what I'm about to tell you
especially if you're a small business
owner such as you know bar restaurant
and you're having financial difficulties
it's very possible if not likely
regardless of how many years you've been
around you're going to be out of
business soon really soon
and the causes for this are much more
internal than
external you see what I'm talking about
here is not so much about the nuts and
bolts of a small business operation I'm
talking about a breakage a breakage of a
system of thought that as I said earlier
was much more
symbiotic here's a brief example
recently I had a nection to speak to the
owner of a small restaurant business
this is a process by the way that takes
several hours of research on my
end but I only ended up talking to the
owner briefly because he didn't want to
pay the research and Report fee which
was modest one of the very first things
I asked him was how important was the
business to him I'm not talking about
income potential per se I'm talking
about as a family heirloom the pride of
keeping hold of a place and he said well
his parents started it in the late 50s
and he absolutely by any means possible
didn't want to sell the place or have it
to close
down then in the next breath he's
telling me he thinks my report fee is
far too expensive and actually and as I
said it was quite modest he said can I
just be a good sport and give him some
free
advice despite the fact that I was
really insulted by this I maintained my
composure and I told him no I'm not
going to give you any free
advice but I will give you a
prediction oh yeah he nonchalantly and
sarcastically
responded what's your
10:02
prediction I'd like to just briefly add
this man had the social graces of a
10:09
pig I said your business will be
completely shut down within one to one
10:14
and a half
10:16
years I ended up being pretty much right
on the money it closed down 14 months
later so in conclusion what I'm trying
10:27
to illustrate is that in in our current
10:30
Society in everything from small
business to even personal relationships
many people today have no understanding
of
10:39
reciprocity no sense of
symbiosis sadly what many adult
Americans want is exactly what a poorly
10:49
raised low character teenager wants and
10:53
expects something for nothing and if
10:56
you're going to have any chance of a
10:59
successful person community or Nation
that's simply not
possible because eventually people
communities or nations that Harbor that
belief
collapse even once Mighty Rome being a
perfect
example so what do you think can you see
11:22
where I'm coming from on this or do you
11:24
have a different opinion in either case
